Mauritius’ Hon. PM Pravind Jugnauth to address the Vision 2030 at World AI Show

The island nation of Mauritius gears up to host the first ever AI show in coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office.

Mauritius: World AI Show is set to embark on its first edition in the African continent under the aegis of the Mauritian Prime Minister’s Office. The show is happening on the 28 – 29 November, 2018 at the Intercontinental Resort, to support the government’s Vision 2030 that enables enterprises and industries to implement latest innovations in AI across domains.

To support the burgeoning artificial intelligence industry of Mauritius, the event will commence with a special address delivered by Mauritius’ Prime Minister, The Hon. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Minister of Technology, Communication & Innovation, The Hon. Yogida Sawmynaden.

Speaking on the occasion, (name of the person or ministry) said, “Mauritius has committed itself to being a beacon of hope, facilitating both inward and outward progress, regionally and internationally. And the first step towards this goal is the development and deployment of innovations to boost our industries. Through this event we feel we’re inching closer towards this goal!”

The event is officially being co-organised by Trescon with the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation (MTCI), Government of Mauritius along with the Economic Development Board of Mauritius (EDB). In addition to these much anticipated keynote speeches, the show will also feature Sophia, United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) first-ever non-human ‘Innovation Champion’.

In an interview leading up to the event, Mohammed Saleem, CEO of Trescon, said, “After conducting successful events globally, we are now looking at Mauritius to conduct our AI series. Mauritius is emerging as an international financial centre, driving research and development in the field of AI. We are glad to have the patronage of some of the most prominent public & private sector functionaries for this event. There is no better time to debut our show in Mauritius.”

The show will also provide the attendees with a chance to witness Trescon’s exclusive pitch competition, where participants will stand a chance to raise up to US$ 1 Million worth of funds for their startups and projects by pitching in front of global investors, including VCs and key government authorities.

Heavyweight sponsors like Huawei, Ocorian, and Genesys are scheduled to be present at the event along with notable personalities that include Mr Francois Guibert, CEO, Economic Development Board; Abdalla Kablan, Advisor to the Gov. of Malta; and Jorge Sebastiao, CTO EcoSystem
Huawei among others.
